The WordPress app for Windows Phone is on version 220.127.116.11 and is compatible with Windows Phone 7.5, 8.0 and 8.1. It is a detailed affair that lets bloggers on WordPress get most of their work done on a Windows Phone smartphone. Its feature set includes the ability to: create new posts, edit and delete existing posts, view stats, create pages, moderate comments, as well as upload and embed media into posts. It supports the administration of multiple blogs, including WordPress.com and self-hosted blogs. It even allows users to create new blogs at WordPress.com. There’s also access to some settings for each blog setup on the app.
Here is the thing: it was last updated on the 15th of June 2013. Yes; 2013. That is almost two years now. Basically, meaning that it is looking like an abandoned project.
There is very little that WordPress for Android does that the Windows Phone app does not do. What the latter needs is to be polished to do it as smoothly as possible. The app has the expected look and feel of the Windows Phone user interface, but it desperately needs a polishing of the user experience, especially while editing an existing post.
However way one looks at it, it is hardly justifiable that the app hasn’t been updated in almost two years. This is especially key when the Android version gets regular updates almost on a monthly basis.
