Twitter is testing a dedicated ‘News Tab’

Twitter apps
If you install the latest version of Twitter, you may notice the new tab at the bottom section of the app totally dedicated to News items. This is part of efforts of Twitter to make it easy for users to find good content, and hopefully spend longer time on the app.

How does this ‘News Tab’ work? Tapping on the tab reveals a list of headlines (curated from various sources), click on any catchy headline and it displays a kind of story screen with a featured image, the headline, and a block of text from the story. You also get to see the top tweets discussing the headline.

A Twitter Spokesman said:

“We’re experimenting with a news experience on iOS and Android as we continue to explore new ways to surface the best content to users,”

This means for now the feature will be found on iOS and Android official Twitter apps.
