Brake noises are a common issue in vehicles, and they can be quite annoying if you have to hear them for too long. However, these noises can be symptoms of bigger issues with your car. therefore, when you hear brake noises, endeavor to have your car checked out. In any case, there are some things you could try out to fix your brakes when they begin to make any sort of sound. Here they are:

This is caused by a lack of brake pad material on your brakes. Brake pads eventually get worn out with repeated usage, and you have to replace them. Therefore, when you hear a grinding noise as you step on the brakes, you need to stop as soon as you can and summon a tow truck.brakes and brake noises

This could be caused by the rear drums. Lots of cars have drum brakes in the back tires, and over time these brake drums develop groves along the surface. Now when you step on the brakes, the inside of the brake drum gets pressed by a brake shoe, thus stopping the car. When the brake shoe rides on the brake drum surface, it follows the groove on the surface of the drum. If the groove gets interrupted, the shoes jump back, leading to the thump sound. There are several ways to solve this, but the safest option is to replace the rear drums of your car.

In this case, the most common cause is inferior pads. Cheap brake pads have large metal flakes in the material, and this causes squeaks when you step on the brakes. If the flakes wear off, the squeaks may stop. The best solution to this is to avoid poor quality brake pads in the first place.

There are various other causes of brake noises, which can be caused by just about anything. A good word of advice you should heed is: when you hear a funny sound from any part of your car, take it in for inspection.

  1. I can relate to the “squeaking noise” part. New pads and they were squeaking. Only when I went back to the shop did I know I was sold an inferior quality
