Uber is stepping up the game. We often want/need to find a location, which is what traditional Uber has addressed. But sometimes, we are trying to get to a person. In situations like that, Uber has an answer, Uber to Person.
A good scenario will be one in which you arrive a city and have to meet up with a friend or business contact. You can now Uber directly to that person. No more do you have to initiate phone calls to confirm your contact’s location.
How it works
- Sync your contacts with the Uber app
- Type in the name of the person you are meeting up with in the “Where to?” box
- Your contact will receive a request from Uber to provide their current static location
- Once they accept, their location is used as your destination and you can be on your way.
When using Uber to Person, the app shares your ETA (estimated time of arrival) with them after you are on your way to their location. They will get updates just like if you decided to share your ETA on any trip.
This new feature sounds like a very nifty feature that will get used a lot. What do you think of Uber to Person?
