  1. What I’ve always said stands True here too. Give me a Nokia Windows phone 7 OR a Nokia Symbian ^3 with improved UI, and some eyecandy: And perhaps I’d be an absolute Nokia fan again. Remember, in the beginning, it was just Nokia and Others?!

  2. If Symbian can do +1GHz CPU smartphones, then what has Nokia been waiting for all these years?

  3. Good question, Bosun! Very laudable question. When I criticized Nokia for not joining in the Smartphone mega Hard-ware RACE a while ago I heard certain comments like “Nokia has resource efficient OS”, “Symbian is not RAM and hardware hungry” etc! If Nokia can do this or even conceive of doing this NOW, then they have been reaping us off all along. Just imagine the Nokia E7 with premium price, yet with only 256 Megabyte RAM and a mere 680 mhz of CPU power!!

Please bring me the IGHz and 512 RAM like other manufacturers!

  4. If Symbian can do +1GHz CPU smartphones, then what has Nokia been waiting for all these years?

That it can do it doesn’t mean that it was absolutely necesarry. My N8 and E7 run fine without a +1GHz processor. Still, a +1GHz CPU is welcome. Just be ready for the consequences as obtains on other platforms.

  5. Good question, Bosun! Very laudable question.

Actually, i consider it a question that wasn’t well thought out.

“Nokia has resource efficient OS”, “Symbian is not RAM and hardware hungry” etc!

Actually, very true. Symbian’s resource efficiency is an industry fact.

If Nokia can do this or even conceive of doing this NOW, then they have been reaping us off all along. Just imagine the Nokia E7 with premium price, yet with only 256 Megabyte RAM and a mere 680 mhz of CPU power!!

Please spare us the rant about Nokia “reaping us” off. How many top-end Symbian devices have you purchased and/or used?

Now, pause and just imagine the E7 with premium price, and with its adequate 256MB of RAM and 680 MHz CPU is the only smartphone in its class that takes me beyond 24 hours on a full battery charge. Somehow, it gives me great satisfaction that I am getting that kind of value from a device in its class.

Not that there are not other areas in which the E7 trumps others in its class if you take the shades off. You guys need to stop and think a bit before throwing some of these tantrums. Just saying.

  6. I sure have missed alot.

I just noticed that emails from follow-up comments have been going to my bulk since the email address changed to @mobility.com.ng

“Nokia has resource efficient OS”, “Symbian is not RAM and hardware hungry” etc!
This has always been my favorite line when I talk to people about Symbian, but now that Nokia is also making a Symbian +1GHz CPU which I love, I just cant justify the reason why they waited this long.
