Photo: What do you think of the BlackBerry Passport?

BlackBerry Passport

The BlackBerry Passport really does look like it was inspired by a real passport. However, I still don’t seem able to wrap my head around its looks. Boxy and odd-looking is how I would describe it. And that hardware keyboard? I dunno. But then, perhaps the real item will look better than the above pictorial representation looks.

Here is a photograph of a real copy in the BlackBerry CEO’s hand:
BlackBerry Passport - Chen

No specifications have been revealed yet, but what do you think of what you see of it?

PS: BlackBerry’s CEO also mentioned that BBM for Windows Phone will be available in July. Keeping fingers crossed.

  1. Kinda reminds me of those Sony Phablets that are just basically a rectangular slab without any attempt at design. I’m sure it will still appeal to some people though.
Glad to see BlackBerry is still in the game, and with the Amazon deal, they might start regaining some market share.

  2. This pic makes the Passport look good. You really need to see it in the hand of John Chen.

Seriously. Boxy. And. Ugly. Why didn’t they still to the physical design of the Z30?

I’m sure it will appeal to some BlackBerry aficionados.

  3. Reminds me of a Nokia X5.
@Noni, I believe it looks even better in Chen’s hands. The image looks super queer and unwieldy

  4. OK, I’ve been following crackberry bumper-bumper concerning the BlackBerry Passport and I’m now interested…. Very much so. It’s been ages since the mobile tech space saw something different in form factor and the passport is just that…. Different.
I’m also a sucker for qwerty device so I’m totally sold. I favor this over the BlackBerry classic and would very much like to own one. Now it’s left to pricing- I bet it would launch here at over 100k.

Passport is ‘weird’ to most people but this kind of weird calls out to me.
