So now, irrespective of the Operating System deployed, what mobile phone brand has really earned your thumbs up? You can make your reviews in the aspect of elegant designs, user interface and other things reviewable 🙂

As for me, I’m confused!

  1. Who would want to stay stuck to a stale phone? Sure not me! Don’t know about you.

Depends what you mean by “stale phone”

I would rather use yesterday’s phone running today’s OS and third party software, rather than a cutting edge phone bereft of awesome. software.

I am not interested in hardware brands beyond their providing fairly rugged and moderately competent hardware

Separating the hardware from software won’t work. It just is not practical. I used a friend’s iPhone a few weeks back and the phone is sweet to use for basic functions life snapping pictures, making calls, listening to music, playing videos and browsing the internet. I do a whole lot more than that and more conveniently too, on my Android phone. If I should consider hardware alone, the iPhone will still fail in some critical areas like SDCard support, non-removable battery, poor Bluetooth support etc.

So for me, Samsung devices on Android platform gets my vote.

  3. I find that I am only very intrigued and mystified about a phone just as long as I haven’t actually owned or used it. Once I do, the “veil” is lifted and it turns out to be just another device with its own set of flaws. So for now, d only device giving me dat sense of superiority are windows phone devices, particularly the lumias. Once I get my hands on one though, it’ll likely be a different story.

  4. nokia phones does it for me… Although I would love to lay my hands on a samsung Andriod device verysoon… U see I’ve been so used to Nokia phones over the years I just believe Nokia phones are like superman…theres nothing it cant offer..lol…one thing that pisses me off with my new Nokia E6 running with belle is the fact that… Push emails and whatsapp messages dont get notification lights unlike my old E5…plus the fact that belle actually consumes more power than the anna..but its all good… Anyway… I go manage am lol..

  5. Ok I have to say this; “Jet-Age”? Unless it’s based on the idea of The Jetson’s cartoon, it’s a big misnomer.

Now, in answer to the question, I don’t know. For me it isn’t about brand, I simply use the device that works for me at the time.

  6. Samsung rocks. Years back I never saw them coming out this way. They are so impressive that I have had to imagine certain devices and before I know, Samsung has made it.You know when you are dreaming a smartphone with certain specifications and its as if Samsung read your mind. For example, I love their galaxies. But always thought the tabs were too big to carry around. Wanted something in-between. Then the birth of Galaxy Note.

Samsung also make available specs that will meet your need. Different sizes of smart phones and tabs. You want stylus, they have it. Super amoled screens, the have it. Dual sim smartphones with top specs, they have it. E.T.C. They strive to make sure they cover every need. Now they will be coming out with tabs/smart phones/phablets with the highest resolution in the game. Apple should watch out. They are going to push retina display into second place.

  7. Obviously its Samsung! The guys there are really doing a great job, bringing out specs as if they are reading my mind.

  8. @olayinka, Nokia is not dying. They are just re-engineering their smartphone product lines. I am very sure they will bounce back into contention in another 3years. But right now, I don’t think they can fit into the request in this article.

  9. @noni, break even is important, but not as much as acceptability (increase sales unit). Its important the buyers start considering their devices amongst all the competing ones on the shelves.

@Olayinka, I don’t see any come back for them before then o. Not even with the new Nokia pureview.
