Word around the block is that new features are already in their testing phase ready to be added to WhatsApp. The Dark or Night mode and the swipe to reply feature.
This tip was gotten from a tweet by WABetaInfo: “I am happy to exclusively give the good news: WhatsApp is finally working on a Dark Mode! It’s a dream. There are many important secret references in the recent updates! Be patient to see it out, hoping it will be FULL OLED friendly for Android phones, iPhones X and newer!”
Quite a number of apps already have this dark mode and it will be great if WhatsApp really features it. Dark mode changes the background and many elements of various apps in iOS and Android from light color shades to black and dark grey.
When dark mode is enabled, it provides a reverse color scheme intended to improve readability. Normally text is black and backgrounds are white or light.
Dark mode will be appreciated as it reduces strain on users’ eyes. You don’t have to squint to view your messages when you wake. That is not all – It will consume less battery power on phones with OLED screens.
Other popular Android apps that have Dark Mode include Twitter, Samsung Internet Browser, Skype and recently YouTube.
The swipe to reply feature already exists for iPhone devices. Users just have to swipe right to reply a specific message. Now, that’s Fast response. Finally, someone thought about it for Android users.
There is no statement from WhatsApp on this but since I need this feature personally, I can just say that their silence probably means it is true. I will take WABetaInfo’s advice and be patient.
