Twitter has finally lifted the lid on the 140 character limit for DM’s. This means you can now go on and on to pour your hearts out privately. It has been rumored the feature will be made available in July, but hey, this is August and the feature is available now, no biggie.

The feature was made public in an official blog post. Though tweets will still remain 140 characters long

While Twitter is largely a public experience, Direct Messages let you have private conversations about the memes, news, movements, and events that unfold on Twitter. Each of the hundreds of millions of Tweets sent across Twitter every day is an opportunity for you to spark a conversation about what’s happening in your world. That’s why we’ve made a number of changes to Direct Messages over the last few months. Today’s change is another big step towards making the private side of Twitter even more powerful and fun.

Meanwhile, the feature will gradually roll out to official Twitter apps for Android and iOS, so make sure you update yours to the latest version.
