Android One smartphones are designed with input and certification from Google, run pure Android OS and offer fast software updates directly from Google. Android One devices are targeted at budget, first-time smartphone users in emerging markets.

The first Android One smartphone was launched in India in 2014. The programme has since beenembraced by more mobile phone manufacturers and extended to cover other emerging markets across South America, Asia, Europe, and Africa.

2019 Android One Smartphones

In 2019, Infinix Mobility announces the Note 6 with XOS, its custom implementation of Android OS. This appears to be a silent exit of the programme. The company had released the Note 5 and Note 5 Stylus as Android one smartphones the year before.

2020 Android One Smartphones

In August 2020, Xiaomi scraps the next smartphone in its Android One list, Xiaomi Mi A4, and announces that it is leaving the Android One programme. The Mi A3 becomes the last Xiaomi Android One phone.

This leaves Nokia as the only player fully vested in the Android one programme. Motorola and Lenovo smartphones have not been released running full stock Android OS, but with some tweaks here and there.
