We all already knew that Microsoft was going to do away with the Nokia branding on their smartphones. What is new however, is the new leaked document that suggests that the Windows Phone brand is going away too and will be replaced with just “Windows”. Yes; just like the desktop OS. Note that this is just rebranding. The OS is the same Windows Phone that you know.
However, Microsoft is moving at unifying both smartphone and desktop platforms over time.
I listened to a radio advert of the Lumia 930 this morning, and it is being marketed as “Windows on your phone”, not Windows Phone, so this leak sounds just right. Your thoughts?
PS: Meanwhile, the Nokia Lumia 930 is being officially launched in Lagos tomorrow. Of course, you already have my review of this almost perfect phone.
