HMD Global, the makers of Nokia smartphones have confirmed that it will be unveiling its first ever 5G phone on the 19th of March. This news comes after a press release from Nokia announced that HMD would partner soon-to-be-released James Bong movie “No Time To Die”.
The phone is expected to be used by agent Nomi in the forthcoming instalment of the James Bond franchise.
Nokia had been giving hints and clues regarding a 5G device, as it talked up the opportunity of releasing a more affordable 5G smartphone in partnership with Qualcomm.
The new Nokia device is expected to house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 chipset which will support 5G technology. Nokia has been able to shroud this device in secrecy, as precious little is known about it on the hardware front.
A leak surfacing a while ago appeared to describe the new device as Nokia 5.2, with some other sources referring to it as the Nokia 8.2 or 8.3. A Bond-themed teaser video was released by HMD and appears to tell us a bit about this smartphone.
The new Nokia device could have a 21:9 aspect ratio display, and is expected to have a large battery that can keep the phone running for 2 days. With little else known about the device, it will be interesting to see what other features this Nokia smartphone would possess on its launch.
