Coolpad showed off its first 5G smartphone at CES 2020. Named Coolpad Legacy 5G, it will cost $359 and offer a range of modest specifications for that price point, one of which is its dual 48MP + 8MP rear dual camera setup.
It has a large 6.53” FHD+ IPS LCD display, which is based on Pixelwork’s HDR technology and paired with HDR 10 support, as well as a waterdrop notch. For selfies, you have a 16MP shooter hidden in the notch.
It is a single-SIM handset that will ship with Android 10. But Coolpad has not yet specified if its software will be vanilla Android or if it will feature a custom skin.
The Coolpad Legacy 5G phone houses Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 765 chip, launched in December 2019. Since the SoC has a Snapdragon X52 5G modem, this device supports 5G networks on American carriers like Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T.
Other internal specs include: 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and support for microSD cards of up to 128GB. The Legacy 5G packs a 4,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging.
When can you buy CoolPad Legacy 5G? The company is planning to release the smartphone at an unspecified date in Q2 2020.
