Corning, makers of the Gorilla Glass have released its next set of glasses called Corning Gorilla Glass 4. This is a follow up to the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which was widely accepted by most phone manufacturers.

  • Gorilla Glass 4 is up to two times tougher than competitive glasses.
  • Gorilla Glass 4 survives up to 80 percent of the time on rugged surfaces and it has been well tested.
  • Gorilla Glass 4 is also slightly slimmer and lighter than Gorilla Glass 3.

Gorilla Glass 4 is manufactured using Corning’s proprietary fusion draw process. It has been specifically built to withstand sharp surfaces. Since it’s introduction in 2007 it has been used by over 40 manufacturers on over 3 billion devices worldwide.

Samples and plans for shipment have began, so you can start seeing it on devices by early 2015.

The smartphone junkyard is littered with smartphones with shattered screen which had ‘Gorilla Glass’ on its specs sheet..
