Normally when people share an article, post or video to Facebook, clicking it takes you to the website where it’s hosted. In an attempt to get people to spend longer hours on the social media site, Facebook is about to introduce a new feature called “Instant Articles”.
This allows sites to host their content directly on Facebook, eliminating the need to be referred to another website. Buzzfeed, National Geographic and The New York Times are some of the organizations contacted so far in reaching an agreement.
Facebook on the other hand is prepared to pay site owners up to 100% of whatever ad revenue is generated. Talks are still ongoing , so hopefully we might see the feature going live as early as this month.
