The Galaxy S10e is the most compact and most affordable of Samsung’s 2019 flagships. The P30 is its equivalent on Huawei’s side of the pond. In other words, both devices are serious bang for buck – they offer you most of the features that their senior flagships have, but at a fraction of their cost.

Huawei P30 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e: Design

Both of them are sleek devices, with thin bezels. The P30 has a cute waterdrop notch, while the Galaxy S10e has a punch-hole in the display. Design is often subjective, so you will understand when I say I think the Huawei P30 is the better looking of the two. Proper eye candy!

Huawei P30 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e: Software and Graphical User Interface

A Huawei P30 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e comparison of necessity involves a comparison of One UI and EMUI, the two brands’ respective custom Android skins.

As far as I can tell, One UI is hands down the best Android skin today. Unfortunately, EMUI hasn’t evolved to be as polished as One UI has. If I had to pick based on software alone, Samsung Galaxy S10e would be my choice.

Huawei P30 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e: Size

Huawei P30 has a 6.1″ display, while the Galaxy S10e has a 5.8″ display. In terms of dimensions, the latter is the more compact of the two phones. While the rest of the world want their phone bigger, myself and a handful of others are happy with compact smartphones. That makes the Galaxy S10e the preferred choice in terms of size. One-handed use is definitely more convenient on the Samsung.

Huawei P30 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e: Photography

Reviews from around the world are all agreed that the Huawei P30 has an aboslutely fantastic camera that is almost at par with that of the Huawei P30 Pro – which till this week was adjudjed the best camera phone in the world (The Galaxy Note10 has just taken the position).

If we go by the available reviews, Huawei P30 has distinctly better cameras – front and back – than Sasmung Galaxy S10e. So, if a camera that shoots amazing photos is what you are after, the P30 is your baby.

Huawei P30 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e: Battery & Charging

Huawei P30 has a beefier 3650mAh battery with 22.5W quick charging, while Samsung Galaxy S10e has a 3100mAh battery with 15W quick charging. This segment ought to go to the Huawei, based on those features alone.

You definitely get better battery life on the P30. However, the Samsung has other tricks to throw in – quick wireless charging and reverse charging, both of which are lacking on the Huawei. If you need those extra features, the Galaxy S10e wins.

Huawei P30 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e: Fingerprint Reader

While in-display fingerprint readers are cutting edge, they are still quite less reliable than regular fingerprint readers. The Galaxy S10e has a side-mounted regular scanner, giving it an edge against the Huawei P30 whose scanner is in-display. But if you prefer cool over functionality, you will find the P30 more alluring.

Huawei P30 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e: Speakers

Samsung Galaxy S10e has stereo speakers, which are missing on the Huawei P30. Not a big deal to a lot of people, but you just might be one of the few who care.

Huawei P30 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e: IP Rating

And when it comes to how well protected the phones are, the Huawei P30 has an IP53 rating – making it dust and splash-proof. On the other hand, the Galaxy S10e has an IP64 rating, meaning it is dust and water proof for depths of up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes. This is an easy win for the Samsung.

Huawei P30 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e: Price

In terms of price, the P30 is the more affordable of the two devices, costing as much as $120 or ₦40,000 less than the Galaxy S10e. You will find the Huawei P30 for about $530 or ₦190,000 while Samsung Galaxy S10e is on sale for about $650 or ₦230,000.

Huawei P30 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e: And the winner is..?

The Galaxy S10e is the more feature-packed smartphone of the two, and it costs more too. Where the Huawei wins hands-down is in the camera department: it is the better camera phone and also delivers better battery life.

  1. Believe me, if I have the chance and the money I would go for both phones at the same time, because I love both devices. Your review on these two phones are fact and I enjoy all your say about them. I’m a huge fan of compact smartphone too just like you and the Samsung got my attention on that. Overall both phones are unique.

  2. Both the two phones are superb. Their specs are exceptional and 😍
😍. I will give for Huawei P30 because I love the fact that the battery is 3650mAh compared to Samsung Galaxy S10e which is 3100mAh.

  3. I wish you hadn’t done this, as it makes a hard decision even harder.

I would have to go with the P30 for the battery and camera but then I prefer the 10e for size…sigh!

  4. Two major things I always look out for, firstly, in a phone are: a strong battery and good cameras, followed closely by big RAM size. Well, in the case of RAM, both scored good marks. But for battery longevity and quality camera, Huawei P30 scored higher so, it’s getting my vote.

  5. Unlike most people, i found this very easy choice to make…
Price difference that’s huge $120 difference even while getting approximately equal performance.
I don’t think there is a gap in performance from this premium sets.
    It’s Huawei for me..

  6. Some say that Huawei have been punching above their weight, but i think they have been impressive for a long time now.
