Zinox Z-PAD

It was three weeks ago that I asked, As PC sales drop, what are the Nigerian brands doing? I wondered why we are not seeing Nigerian PC makers making the shift to mobile too as obtains elsewhere in the world. This morning, I read a news report saying that Zinox will be unveiling its Z-PAD range of tablets next month. The range will include the v7, v6, and v5.

Windows 8

The flagship of the range is the Z-PAD v7 and is reported as coming with the following features:

  • 11-inch display
  • Windows 8 Pro OS
  • Intel Core i3 -3217U 1.80GHz dual-core processor
  • GSM/3G support
  • 4GB Memory
  • slim detachable keyboard
  • stylus support

Android Too

Next in line is the Z-PAD v6 tablet:

  • 10-inch 1280×800 pixel resolution display
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean upgradeable
  • Dual core processor
  • GSM/3G support
  • 4GB Memory
  • 8,000mAh Li- polymer battery

It is good to see this move, and it is nice that Zinox has something for both Windows and ANdroid users. The tablets will be manufactured for Zinox by FoxConn. You can read the complete DigitalSENSE Business News report here: Zinox to unveil tablets in November.

  1. Good to hear. And to think FoxConn manufactures all Apple products as well means Zinox is in safe company. I hope they make their money though, cos Nigerians have a nasty bias for foreign products even though they are all made in China. Competitive pricing blended with unique apps could make for a good selling point.

  2. while it may appear nice, maybe d govt agencies who need tablets for their work will go for zzzz-pads (i’m feeling sleepy already). personally, i feel these guys have never offered products of relevance to the average consumer, from overpriced PCs to unoriginal designs, these guys r fake. Up tecno! up huawei! up infinix…yes na chinco but e pay. Even other local tablet brands dey. boo-hoo-hoo zinox zilch.
