Yesterday, OPPO’s A1k came knocking on the door at MobilityArena. This is one of two smartphones that were launched in Lagos last week. Now that we have one in our hands, we can give you the kind of detailed review that you love MobilityArena for.
But while we cook up that delicious meal, here is our first impression.
This is a beautiful budet smartphone with a 6.1″ screen, 8MP camera with dual LED flash, 4000mAh battery, 2GB RAM, and 32GB ROM. Our review unit comes in Black.
We had hands-on time with it at the launch event last week and our first impressions remain the same now that we are able to have a better look at it in-house. OPPO A1k is clearly targeted at people who want a tastefully designed smartphone. It is plastic but has a metallic texture, premium feel to it – pretty much like how Nokia smartphones are. The A1k is a beautiful lower mid-range smartphone.
We particularly like the gold trimming on the small, rear camera bump. The OPPO branding at the back is in gold too. The back is a fingerprint magnet however, which is a common occupational hazard of using a smartphone these days.
We have played with the user interface a bit already, and find ColorOS to be light and breezy. Setting the phone up was easy. ColorOS’ intelligent Smart Assistant looks promising. It displays important information e.g. appointments and calendar entries, sleep tracker, and even quick functions shortcuts, on a left pane on the Home screen.
In the next few days, we will be putting the phone to use as a daily driver and then report back to you with our fully detailed review. We are looking forward to seeing how long its 4000mAh battery can go as well.
OPPO A1k sells for about ₦45,000 and is vailable at SLOT, POINTEK, Jumia and other accredited dealerships.
