If you have switched from an iPhone or iPad to a non-Apple smartphone, you may need to switch off iMessage in order to be able to receive text messages sent to you from an iPhone. Find below steps to take to switch off iMessage.
Switch Off iMessage on Your iDevice
If you still have your device, the process is straightforward. Follow these easy steps:
- Transfer your SIM card to your iPhone.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Messages.
- Turn iMessage off. Go back to Settings.
- Tap FaceTime.
- Turn FaceTime off. Exit Settings.
If You No Longer Have Your iDevice
If you have given your iPhone away, or lost it, or had it stolen off you, you can turn off iMessage by visiting the Apple website.
