Google recently launched an app for sharing YouTube videos with friends. The app is known as Uptime, and it was created by Google internal incubator Area 120. Uptime is similar to the main YouTube app, but it allows users to watch videos on YouTube with their friends.
Uptime works like the normal YouTube app in that you can stream videos on it. However, it allows you to invite your friends to come watch the same video with you in real time, thus creating a “viewing party”. Everyone viewing the video can post reactions, comments and various visual elements to spice up the experience.
Right now, the app is only available for the iOS platform. Also, it is an invite-only app for now. However, it looks like a fun experiment.
