Galaxy S2 and others to get ICS update

We recently witnessed the released of the latest android version; Ice Cream Sandwich. After the post was published on Mobility Blog, several people began to ask if some previous android phones will receive the ICS update. About 3 days ago, Samsung Italy confirmed that the following Samsung devices will receive the ICS update asides the already confirmed Nexus S:

  • Galaxy S2
  • Galaxy Note
  • Galaxy tab 10.1
  • Galaxy Tab 8.9
  • Galaxy Tab 7.7
  • Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus

This should be great news to the folks who have these devices. The update might not come until early 2012 though.

  1. Samsung should try extending the ICS release to other phones.

Sony Ericsson has confirmed that all Xperia phones released in 2011 will get the ICS update, and that’s a substantial number of phones. Xperia Arc, Neo, Pro, Play, Arc S, Neo V.

  2. I second, Samsung should do better.

Users of Samsung Galaxy S1 will be so angry right now.

  3. That’s a pretty short list samsung has there. Galaxy s is too awesome to not be on the list….considering that it’s still hot stuff. Now no one would want to get it (even those that’ve no idea bout the differences btw android 1.6 and 2:2)

  4. Good news indeed!
Can’t wait for my gs2 to be updated to ICS. But 2012 is too long a time to wait

  5. Sony ERICSSON giving the update to only 2011 Xperia phones? That‘s not fair. What happens to those of us using Xperia X10 who have been faithful to the company for so long? Sony Ericsson has few just a few phones in the xperia lineup so it shouldn‘t be a problem for them to give us all a taste of the Ice Cream.

With Samsung, the case is different. They have galaxies of galaxy phones and it will take all the mights of a creative giant to give all these stella bodies a taste of the delicious Ice Cream.
