Microsoft releases an Android launcher: Check out Arrow Launcher Beta

After just releasing Cortana for Android smart phones, Microsoft has followed up with a launcher called Arrow Launcher. The app is currently undergoing private beta testing.

Arrow Launcher1

It comes with 3 default home screens which you can’t manipulate or change. The first is a ‘Peoples’ screen that shows all contacts, both phone and email contacts. The second screen displays recently used apps and your most frequently used apps below. The last screen is a Notes & Reminders page that  lets you save notes and set reminders.

You can swipe up to reveal your recently used apps. The app drawer is very similar to Google Now launcher and what we have on Android M launcher. You can also set Bing wallpaper as your default wallpaper.

  1. Is this in direct competition with Nokia’s Z Launcher? So from Arrow to Z….interesting move by Microsoft. I’m curious as to what this will mean in the long term, this slowly encroaching on Android territory.
