Last Friday, I ran into this beautiful clamshell mobile on the desk of an acquaintance of mine. Meet the Alcatel OT-808, a clamshell mobile that was released in 2010. This beauty looks like a woman’s powder box or something of the sort, but what do I know?
Opened up, we find a full QWERTY keyboard and a 2.4-inch colour screen.
The OT-808 is GSM-only and offers email and a WAP 2.0/xHTML browser, as well as MMS (remember MMS?).
The only camera is a 2.0 megapixel unit. The processor is clocked at a mere 208 MHz. The OT-810 is a feature phone. The owner informed me that it packs a few modern apps built in, like WhatsApp and Opera Mini.
Internal storage is only 80MB, with microSD support of up to 8GB cards. The OT-808 has FM Radio too, and is powered by an 850 mAh battery.
The interesting thing is that it does not seem that the Alcatel OT-808 has been discontinued. From what I am told, you can still get these to purchase at retailers in the UK. So, if you want one….
