This 5.5-inch phablet from Infinix is “Jim’s Big Thing”

You all have been teased to death by Infinix, Jumia and MTN and something big coming. Well, “Jim’s Big Thing” arrived Mobility Towers last week in preparation for a review. It is a 5.5-inch Android Kitkat octa-core phablet with a massive 4,000mAh battery. That sounds juicy, but Infinix also says that Jim’s Big Thing has fast charging, allowing you to get 12 hours of battery life from just 20 minutes of charging.

I remember that at a forum last year that I was invited to, when Infinix asked for a key feature that consumers would love to have on their smartphone, I mentioned very good battery life and fast charging. Others present were in agreement. Apparently, Infinix listened.

There’s an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash. Infinix says the 2 megapixel front-facing camera supports 75 degrees wide-angle shooting.

After weeks of teasing, Infinix and Jumia finally unveiled this new device at an event this afternoon in Lagos. So, what is the identity of “Jim’s Big Thing”? It’s official name is Infinix Hot Note X511, and here it is in all its glory:

    1. Apart from Infinix Zero, any other product from the brand with OTA updates? I have strong doubt this one will not be getting it – nothing to backup my doubt though.

  1. how about a full spec sheet, like the specific version of KitKat, the name and speed of the SoC, the ROM & RAM and any hardware/connectivity perks (NFC, LTE etc)

  2. Infinix does make mature looking devices…stronger contender to Tecno and Innjoo IMO. I hope they’ll add OTA updates to the bag

  3. lol, 1 GB RAM, seriously. the Infinix Zero & Innjoo One have 2 GB RAM. for the price, that’s a letdown
