What are your best features in a phone?

With the myriads of advancements in mobile technology, users now get phones for many other reasons beyond just making phone calls. Now, a lot of factors are to be considered when shopping for a mobile device in general.

It is important when shopping for a phone for you to have handy a list of your most desired features so as to not end up with a disappointing buy. Here is my list:

Display Quality
The most important feature for me on a phone is the display. I have used and I still use smartphones with Super-AMOLED technology. As such, staring at a screen that is not up to that standard is a no-no for me.

Size
Next on my list is size. My phone must be big enough. Different people coin their own definition of big enough. I currently use a 5.3 inch Galaxy Note, and I can still go as high as a 5.5 inch display, so go figure. A 3.5 inch display? Please!

Camera
The third feature on my list would be the camera. I am a photography buff and I love taking shots as fast as I can, so a top notch camera coupled with a good display and large screen size does it for me.

What are your preferences when it comes to choosing that next mobile device? What were your criteria in choosing the device that you have now?

  1. When it comes to phones my only concerns are, battery life and hw well I can connect with my contacts on fb,google talk, yahoo and twitter(I wld’ve added bbm,but that wld narrow my choice lls )

  2. And the top winner for me is (1) battery life and (2) a simple user interface. No use having a phone with 3Ghz processor speed, 51MP Carl zeiss lens camera (‘Purer’ view anyone?) etc etc if you need to charge it 5 times a day.

Mobile phones specs are quite remarkable these days, though I’m still waiting for one with a remarkable battery too.

  3. My primary needs in a phone is fast internet connectivity, fast processor, & good battery life. Then you can now bring in good camera & multimedia player. My Blackberry already satisfies 85% of my smartphone needs..

  4. In addition to display and good Camera, I would love my phone to have good battery life, fast internet connection, sns integration, Bluetooth file transfer capability, USB mass storage, fast processor, wifi hotspot from the box, document editor from the box, supports huge numbers of apps and have great UI………

  5. Large crisp Dispay to me is very important.. in fact I’m looking forward to the HD super Amoled Plus editions, good battery life, my device runs on a 2,500mah battery which gives me at least 15 hours of use, HSPA inclusive, ability to handle office documents decisively, hotspot functionality, must be fast during operation, good internet connection

  6. I will say over & over again battery life comes first web browsing camera multimedia in that order.

  7. For me, freedom ranks number one on my list. Before looking at the specs of any device for consideration of purchase, I first look at the OS it is running on. Right now, the devices that can get my consideration are those running Android, Symbian/Belle and Blackberry OS in that order.

Most of all the features mentioned above are important too, but if given a choice of a device having all those features but running either iOS or Windows Phone 7 in their present states, then it will not be exciting to me.

  8. OS related

    Overabundance of apps .
    Data_parsimony.

    hardware related

    Indefatigable battery life.
Crystal clear big_screen, even in scorching sunlight
    Stylus_(anything)_sensitive screen

  9. Battery life isn’t much of an issue with me now because the Galaxy Note comes with a gigantic 2,500mAH battery. I think that manufacturers are starting to move away from the standard 1,500mAH. All major flagship phones e.g the One X and the SGSIII ship with good batteries.

  10. For me battery life must be excellent, the integration with twitter facebook and my emails is another factor. Data consumption too is something I can’t joke with either.

  11. Great huge display is essential, battery life is most important sha. Am used to great batteries on mobiles have used

  12. Large clear sensitive display
Large onboard memory expandable via SD card
    USB on the go support
    Fast processor
    Fast internet
Abundance of quality applications especially office and productivity suites
    Good battery life
Good front facing camera for video calls
Top notch main camera, but I can sacrifice that for now since my N8 is still very much functional.

  13. Battery life – you guys are joking right? Please tell me you don’t charge your phone each day after heavy use and I’ll believe it! Ever since I had the Nokia E72 and having to charge it more often than my previous Samsung, I stopped taking battery life into consideration.

After my last phone, I have two main considerations: the amount of internal memory and nothing less than a 5 megapixel camera. Throw in some useful apps (especially cross platform) and I’m game.

  14. I have recently started a blog, the info you offer on this site has helped me greatly. Thanks for all of your time & work. “The more sand that has escaped from the hourglass of our life, the clearer we should see through it.” by Jean Paul.

  15. BATTERY life, Screen size (have used a 4′ before so wud like want a 5′ or more next), standard connectivity; usb OTG (even if I’m pretty sure I won’t use it), bluetooth, wlan. Don’t care much bout camera (if its 2mp sha make sure I don’t find out), games on d platform is really important (BB sucks heavily here), SNS integration. Yeah, a fantastic e-reader. Shikena. All ’em quad-core, 41mp, bluetooth 4.0, Siri na just jara

  17. Large display, rapid response, Internet tethering…and a good battery life, tho the iPhone 4 failed at the last but I don’t have a problem with that…
