WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum said that the cross-platform app now has 700 million monthly users and is now used to send 30 billion messages daily.

Despite its huge adoption since it was launched in 2009, WhatsApp is yet to make a profit though.

  1. Two words. Ads and Stickers.

WhatsApp really needs to reconsider their subscription model which they barely enforce. And also introduce stickers (which people love to send, i know i love them) and ads (i like the way BBM does it kinda subtle). Maybe make their subscription an ad free option which BBM is planning to introduce.

  2. part of the reason why WhatsApp is so popular is cos it’s free, enforcing the 99c fee after the first year’s always been an issue
