MailBox is a service with apps available for iOS and Android OS devices. It seeks to improve people’s productivity and team collaboration.

In line with this vision, the Mailbox team joined Dropbox in 2013. However, the team are now convinced that an email app cannnot solve the problem with email and so will be shutting down the service come February 2016.

But as we deepened our focus on collaboration, we realized there’s only so much an email app can do to fundamentally fix email. We’ve come to believe that the best way for us to improve people’s productivity going forward is to streamline the workflows that generate so much email in the first place.

If you are a Mailbox user, it is time to start migrating to an alternative email service.

  1. This was my favourite iOS app even if it only worked with Gmail (disliked the Android version, didn’t find it as intuitive). I’ve since moved on to Outlook which misses a few tricks I was used to with Mailbox but keeps some valuable elements.

Farewell Mailbox, it was nice knowing you.

  3. Got the notification email too. Used it a while back on Android but didn’t really like it that much so I uninstalled it. So long mailbox.
