Last Seen Status arrives WhatsApp for Windows Phone

Posted by

Windows Phone users of WhatsApp can now enjoy the same privacy that Android and iOS users have been enjoying. They can now choose who can see their ‘Last seen’, profile photo and status message. They can set it so everyone can see it, only their contacts see it or set it so no one can see it.

Other improvements in this version 2.11.490.0 update include:

  • Chat backgrounds
  • Broadcast lists
  • Media auto-download settings (settings > chat settings > media autodownload)
  • Custom notification tones (Windows Phone 8 Update 3 required)
  • Various enhancements and bug fixes

This is a significant update to WhatsApp for the Windows Phone platform.

  1. Chat background is totally cool.
last seen? If yours ain’t active, you can’t see others’.

  2. last seen? If yours ain’t active, you can’t see others’.

That’s only fair, and that’s how it works on all platforms. If you want privacy, you should give others their privacy.

  3. This might be nit-picky of me but I think the title of the article is a little misleading. It gives the impression that the “Last Seen Status” is just arriving on Windows Phone, which is incorrect.

Although the body of the article explains that its actually the “privacy setting” that is new, not everyone bothers to read the entire article. Most just scan the headlines and consider themselves adequately informed.
