I am surprised to see the iPhone SE 2022 on the list, considering all the news about how there is little demand for phones with small screens and how Apple had discontinued the SE range. Perhaps the SE 2022’s performance was a factor in Apple scrapping the plan to discontinue the range, which is why we are now expecting an iPhone SE 2024 next year.
It is also surprising to see the 2-year old iPhone 12 show up on the list of the top 10 bestselling phones of 2022. It was the best selling phone of 2021 and retained a strong foot in the market all through 2022. Amazing. One thing is clear, for all of the limitations of iOS, the iPhone has a solid hold on the smartphone market, worldwide. It is a hold that every other smartphone maker envies.

Samsung’s two appearances on this list are budget models. The Galaxy A13 and A03 are not remotely close to being flagships. But this follows a pattern that has been established over the years – Samsung’s best selling smartphones are often budget models. I wonder how well Samsung’s premium flagships sold in the year.
